[ Now that more of this place is visible, Firefly's started looking through the different buildings. It's surprising to see her name written down like this.
Whoever this Zhongli person is looks like they're her roommate. So she'll step in to see what it's like. They're only on the second floor, so it wouldn't be too difficult to jump out of it's needed.
She's mostly trying to get a sense of the layout and escape routes. ]
[ despite the fact that his name is on one door, zhongli doesn't miss the fact that another's is, as well, and it would be deeply impolite for him to simply barge in unannounced. he's not familiar with this person - so, he doesn't want to alarm them.
firefly will hear a couple of firm, knuckle-rapping knocks before the knob turns, letting him open the door just enough to look in. ]
[ Zhongli is distracted, once everything has been taken care of for jiaoqiu. he's actually in the kitchen at the moment, waiting for water to boil in an old-fashioned kettle on the stove and simply... staring into the wall above the stove, his hands absently resting on the handle for the oven below. his stance is still just as upright as usual, but his shoulders are still tense while he lets himself be lost to his own thoughts.
it's only when the kettle begins to whistle that he rouses from his thoughts and notices firefly, shaking his head and offering a small smile. ]
Tea? [ might as well offer some, as he reaches for the kettle, going to pour it into a porcelain teapot that she's seen in their room that is now waiting on the counter. ] I thought it might be good to brew some, after that.
[ She takes in his stance, notices the way his shoulders sit. Not strange, considering what they had to witness today. Watching people fight for their lives... It's not unfamiliar, but it's not usually as personal as Heaven's made it.
Firefly offers him a small smile back, before her expression fades back to worry. ]
[ zhongli's tail flicks lazily behind him as he comes and stands with her, just wearing this as he smiles softly up at the fireworks when another blossoms to life. ]
It reminds me of home. Less music and festivities, less people, but still just as vibrant.
[ his hand is gingerly held at his stomach, like he's still processing the soreness they all woke up with, but... he shakes his head, scalier since the news dropped. ]
anyways. zhongli will seek her out, looking far more draconic than he has all week. but he's keeping himself together, regardless, steady as ever, focused as ever, looking to find where she's gone. ]
... Firefly. [ if you say that she's at the fireworks i'll squeak you like a stress toy. ]
[ She's made her way to the Greenhouse, but she's also wearing something very different to her usual style. Still she reaches out to touch the flourishing garden, delighted to see it. ]
[ oh. zhongli recognizes her instantly, at least, but he'll proceed carefully considering he forgot much in his regressed age. moving with audible steps, he looks around with a smile on his face. ]
[ when he doesn't find her right away in the greenhouse, zhongli makes his way back to their room before he resorts to messaging her - so when he opens the door and sees her there, he can't help the sigh of relief. ]
You're safe. [ worry, guilt - ] I tried to make it to you before the barriers went into effect, but I was stopped by them in the flower garden.
[ i'm going to drop us directly into memshare so that i can make sure we get everything taken care of. so whether they're in the funhouse or step through a doorway and find themselves there...
well, congrats! you've been chosen for a memory of war for this one! if you want another one later on in the thread or the week i've GOT you. ]
[She watches him test the doors. Firefly tests a few windows, but they're so sturdy and unyielding. Her own Chao sticks around her like she'd be able to do anything.
She's not even sure her armor could break through.]
It sounds like the angels are looking into it. We're already four weeks into this test program.
[ firefly can find zhongli sitting in write it off, a large stack of colored paper next to him and kedou the chao sitting atop the table with a coloring book and a myriad of markers next to it. it's just merrily coloring, mostly in the lines but definitely not stringent on staying, but its person is... using a pair of scissors as he just vibes? he's found music on his phone, apparently, and is playing something instrumental and calm, one ankle propped up on the opposite knee as he just. snip snip snip snips, turning a many-folded piece of paper around and manipulating it and the scissors calmly.
his thoughts are more just... faded out? at the moment? he's thinking but it's just background thinkthoughts more than anything else. it gets more clear when he notices her, glancing up mid-snip. ]
Care to join me for some crafting? I brought tea, if you'd like some, but... mostly, I think we could all use some busywork, especially with the "rule."
[ after getting firefly set up in the health center, and helping to tend to her with the others working on the care of their returned companions... zhongli leaves, for a bit. because he has to go and get the sn**py bandaid from her room, lest she suffer for even longer with her injuries being what they are.
(but he knows that her past means her pain tolerance at least has her braced for a portion of it - she just shouldn't have to manage it with that alone.) ]
[ zhongli doesn't look over his shoulder, hearing someone else coming down the beach sand, once he's found staring out at where the waves should have been rolling in. instead, he frowns, gaze slowly casting across the barren dunes, before going up, up, - taking in the sight of the lighthouse on the hill. ]
... this Entity's fit has truly brought us into a place of decay, hasn't it. At least the mansion and its neighborhood remain safe for now.
[ this is when he finally looks at firefly, frowning. ]
I feel almost as if we should offer a prayer for this place in the meantime, though.
[For the moment, she still looks like herself. A small girl and not an armored suit. She follows his gaze up at the lighthouse and considers what it looks like when a planet has truly gone barren. There's just a brief thought shared of an empty, destroyed world.]
Its still salvageable. Things are still here.
... A prayer wouldn't hurt. Maybe it'll help heal the place? [She doesn't know, but she is the type to stubbornly cling onto hope.]
[ we are... somewhere in the neighborhood? the gazebo, maybe, so that zhongli's easy to find for those that are coming and going through all of, well. this. there's a light, golden glow coming from his hands - and as part of his hands, as well - as he can be found manipulating geo energy quietly. his emotions are still distant enough to not really be there, but his thoughts are filled with shapes, and brief blips of peoples' words or faces as he works.
a bottle of osmanthus wine sits next to him, but no glass. so he's probably just been drinking from it directly while doing his task at the moment. on his lap is a velvet-lined box, with a few things in the bottom of it already. what they are isn't immediately apparent, but they're the same color as whatever is in his hands right now.
without looking up right away: ] The final day comes tomorrow. How are you feeling about it?
[ the light fades, and he deposits his work into the box - then looks up at firefly, offering her a small, fond smile. a little sad around the edges, but... still there for firefly. might be the last time they see each other, and he will miss her so sorely. he knows it. ]
[ She takes a seat next to him and looks out into garden.
Of course she misses her friends and she misses her partners. Her odd little family at home, even if they are all criminals.
But there are so many people in Heaven that she's grown so close to. It's strange to think she'll wake up and not just see him there in her life. He's one of the kindest people she's met and his steadiness was so reassuring for all these weeks.
Her emotions are still there, loud, love, warm and sad, yearning. ]
I'll... Really miss you.
[ Maybe if she makes big puppy dog eyes at Silver Wolf she can tear a hole in reality. ]
