It just seems like it'd be in everyone's best interest to catch those afflicted. That's what they're being told, isn't it?

[ pause. drinks some water. ]

If he gets away with it, maybe it'll be worse if there's a next time. I'm almost willing to bet there will be a next time if he isn't caught. If there's no consequence then... I'm not quite sure why there'd be any emphasis on catching culprits who were influenced.

We all handle our sins in different ways. I guess it's no surprise that it'd manifest differently. For example, I was already a sinner before I got here, and I was tempted by one of the apples well before I killed Elysia. That'd make me a prime target for affliction, wouldn't you agree?

It's like... opening up an old wound, I suppose.

If someone doesn't have those same motivations or history, the influence might have to get more forceful. Or perhaps, the culprit doesn't know how to temper themselves because it's something they've never experienced before.
