[ he's too polite to dunk on him unfortunately. he just sets the vision down on the table, to be reattached to his jacket later. ]
Visions allow the wielders of them to manipulate their bestowed element, which manifests in different ways depending on the individual. Not everyone is given a Vision, and they are typically something that manifests to them in times where they experience powerful emotions - duress, determination, grief, joy, so on.
Would you explain demiflora to me? [ mild, but encouraging. ] I can assume based on name alone, that they would perhaps be based upon plants? There is the Dendro element for us, specifically for the manipulation of plantlife and the energy thereof, but I believe demiflora will be very different.
[ vel slowly trickling in lore like wee! have fun! and we just shake and cry. ]
The fog is more to do with domains than Visions, but we use our Visions to navigate them and protect ourselves from the dangers therein.
Not really... There might be some demiflora who can control plants, but I don't know for sure. It's just how they named us to tell our powers apart. [ imagine if vel drops the bomb that they're really part plant. help me. ] It's basically just humans with abnormal abilities. I'm a Daphne - so I can make portals to teleport somewhere. Different demiflora species have different powers.
Oh, those domains you mentioned. Did you think this was one of those? But this... Vision [ leans in to look at it a little closer ] didn't help you find anything here. Is it... not working? My powers aren't, either.
Ah, I see. With the variety of flora in the world, that would make for a limitless nomenclature, wouldn't it... we have daphne flowers in Liyue. Symbols of endurance, protection, and honesty. I could see a connection between that and teleportation, in some ways.
[ the aesthetics of being really part plant would be. so good, actually. but also. help. don't do this to us. ]
I did think this was a domain, yes. But as it stands, you are correct - the Vision is dormant. It would be illuminated with Geo energy if it was empowered.
[ whoa. symbolism. something like that never crossed his mind. it's a little embarrassing, too, because he definitely doesn't think of himself that way. ]
I don't know if it's that, or the nomenclature. [ ... ] I didn't know a different world could have the same flowers.
Depending on the individuals that came up with it... the nomenclature is more likely. [ judging by your reactions to Things yesterday and today. ] We have a wide variety of flowers in Teyvat - I don't imagine all of them will be the same.
[ he reaches for his tea cup, settling back as well and crossing one leg over the other knee. ]
I doubt, for example, that you would have heard of Glaze Lilies. Daphne will grow in the proper climates across all of Teyvat, but Glaze Lilies are endemic only to Liyue.
[ but, well. he smiles, just the slightest bit, behind his teacup. it's rueful. ]
Often, yes, that would be the point in the end. But it was above and beyond my expectations as well. Hopefully we'll soon have answers.
[ your teenagers always have character arcs i've seent them ]
There are supplies that I could draw with, in the shop. I'll see if I can use them another time to show you, then - it isn't the same, but it is, at least, something.
[ he does... make a little bit of a face at that, disapproving. ]
I have a suspicion who the main culprit is towards the destruction. That young man is full of quite a bit of anger - surely there are better outlets than this shared space.
[ sometimes their character arc is learning they're bisexual and literally nothing else
anyway his head tilts a little like a puppy ] You're an artist, too?
[ he really does have vision... geddit ]
Ugh. You mean that edgy loser, right? [ do not just refer to people that way to your elders? ] I saw him throwing things at the lava lamps earlier, just because he could. He obviously wants everyone to be as miserable as he is.
I dabble. No harm in learning a few things on the side.
[ badum tsh... but the disapproval shifts to calling dan an "edgy loser," although it's more mild compared to the disapproval at dan's temper. i mean, if the shoe fits....... ]
When we arrived, I caught him trying to open his skull on the ground in an attempt to remove his halo. That he was also trying to break the chandelier doesn't surprise me much.
[ he is trying not to look interested in things like that. old habits die hard.
he'll just look away... don't be disappointed in him when he's right to be annoyed! ]
Is he really that nuts? [ doing nothing for the edgelord allegations. ] I don't like the idea of being here, either, but I doubt removing these things would change it.
You would be surprised what you learn you're interested in.
[ try a little bit of everything!
at least laurence knows shame. he's fairly sure that dan doesn't, despite zhongli's best attempt to reprimand him for being self-destructive. ]
I did not speak long with him, but he seems rather set in his anger as his most motivating emotion - and in others suffering it by extension. Ideally this will change and we won't see him trying more creative means of removal.
It's the making others "suffer" it that's the problem. If he wanted to do all that stuff by himself, fine, but why does it have to be our problem, too?
But how do you find what you like, without trying things out?
[ genuine curiosity ]
... should he continue, this is where we would be circling back to punishments. I hope that the displeasure of everyone will encourage him to stop on its own, as I don't take pleasure in it, but if we have no other choice, then we would have to put a stop to it.

So... kind of like some demiflora. [ i think there are rock demiflora now but don't ask me what species. vel explain. ] Except... not genetic?
[ confusion. powerful emotions equating to power is... still a new concept to him, but also. just manifesting like that?? ]
What's that got to do with the fog, though?

With how different things sound between our worlds, probably not.

We have lilies, but I don't know about that kind.
Guess there's no rush if we're stuck here. All we can do is sit and wait and try to keep people from destroying everything.
