While I'm uncertain whether it would be an equivalent punishment, he did take her chance of facing judgement day from her. If this does the same for him, that is at least equivalent.
Though the decision is ultimately out of our hands after tonight. Which, it shouldn't be up to us in the first place, but if I say something about expecting the Angels to take responsibility again, I don't think that'll be received well.
