Ah, you made your name more palatable for human tongues.
[ ali zoph. ali'grezoph. he makes the immediate connection to that, but nods. ]
Ali'grezoph. [ he pronounces it as ali does. ] The, ah, Chipper function of the phone already revealed my name without my consent. But I am Morax - though I would prefer to continue being Zhongli to my friends here, if that's alright.
It's alright, I will keep calling you Zhongli if that is what you wish. And likewise, I go by Ali in this form. Ali'grezoph is the name I go by in my dragon form.
[He doesn't know Zhongli's situation, but there must be a reason why he doesn't want to be called Morax. So Ali will respect that.]
[ it's largely because they are his friends, met as zhongli, and they've no reason to be calling him by his godly name or titles. he's already been trying to centuries to get xiao to stop calling him by a title. ]
So names shift, depending on your form? Not an unusual concept, but interesting, I think.
Unfortunately, in the modern world there is extensive paperwork for everyone. I had to pick a name to go by in my human form, and my dear partner keeps calling me by my original name. So on legal documents, my full name is Ali Gre Zoph.
[Said as three separate words instead of one like his original name is.]
That way if my partner is being obstinate, I can just say he was using my full name.

At least my effect did not leave me acting against my nature. I was just a toddler.

[He pauses, then adds a bit more.]
You know, Ali may sound like a human name, but it is just a shortened version of my true name.

Zhongli is not the name I was born with, but it is the one that I've chosen for myself and have gone by for quite some time. So I understand.
Are you offering to share your true name with me?

[He is trying very, very hard not to die, but anything can happen. Especially when he doesn't have access to his fire.]
Of course, it can't be pronounced perfectly in any human tongue, but "Ali'grezoph" is a close approximation.
