[ welcome to... the beach, leading up to the cave! zhongli is not dressed for beach going, necessarily, but he doesn't seem perterbed by his trek up the sand towards the cave opening. he walks with his arms behind his back, but one hand holding his spear with the point angled downwards in the event that there's any trouble to run into along the way. ]
I thought as much, seeing the hill... ah, hello there. Mister Marcoh, if I remember correctly?
[ It's okay, Marcoh doesn't look very dressed for the beach either. He looks slightly awkward trekking over the sand. He keeps pausing to just look around, seeming very out of place.
He's not quite jumpy but he does look a little bit wary. ]
That is me.
[ Frowning as he looks at Zhongli. ]
And you're...?
[ He's not that good with phones but having to remember forty people's worth of profiles and pictures is a lot anyway. ]
[ not everyone is a freak like him who has remembering on his profile. but he doesn't seem bothered by this question, and instead inclines his head slightly to acknowledge and also politely greet him. ]
Zhongli. How're you fairing so far, Mister Marcoh? It's been quite a bit to get used to, so some peace and quiet away from the bustle of the boardwalk is rather nice, I think.
[ weather or underground-wise. he doesn't judge, considering liyue is rife with mines and, you know, the chasm. ]
Typically I could summon or disperse it, when empowered, so it's simple habit to have it with me. Especially in a place I'm unfamiliar with. But considering there's nothing of threat so far...
And now you deal with a different sort of fog. But with such clear skies, here, I'd not be surprised if the stars would be all the brighter at night. A tradeoff.
[ literal is fine. oocly i assume he's a mole man. ]
Mm, likewise. Even our most peaceful shores in Liyue will see treasure hoarders, or beasts and monsters, or other such threats, when you least expect it. But even the gulls are mild mannered.
The sky is lovely over the manor at night, I know - Miss Firefly and I were enjoying it before the station made this place available.
[ but he considers the answer, thoughtful. ]
Numerous. Bat-like creatures that vary depending on the element they resonate with, living slimes and plant-like monsters called whopperflowers that both are much the same. Geovishaps, which are draconic creatures that can travel through the earth and have some command over the Geo element. Humanoid creatures called hilichurls, which plague all of Teyvat with settlements they call home and launch attacks on travelers from.
I don't think anything "resonates with elements", like you said. I've seen some strange things recently but before that, it's just normal animals, and people.
You say this, but I've heard some unusual and unfamiliar things thus far. And the technology here is beyond me, at least the screens and the phone and those loud games.
[ Except he has like... electricity I guess, and you have fantasy mana and sometimes electro. ]
...Strange things happening to humans -- people. It was in this city I was just passing through, before I ended up here. Like they were, or were becoming monsters.
[ i don't even bother trying to understand teyvat's power sources beyond yeah sometimes magic does this and then fontaine has whatever clockwork water power is going on there. ]
... how terrible. No, I've only seen madness make man into monster, not such a transformation as that.
[ I know the way only Fontaine has basically what seems to be legitimate electricity is killing me. When the rest of your world is fantasy but then one place is Bioshock. ]
They seemed mad too, but yeah. It seemed deeper than just that. It wasn't normal.
[ I KNOW i just have to know about liyue for this it's fine i'll live in fantasy china. i'll never play from natlan because i'll never comprehend their tech discrepencies. ]
And you hadn't encountered it before, so I would suspect there were no whispers of it elsewhere, either..? Horrible as it sounds, I hope it was only that place.
I understand. Hopefully these eight weeks pass for us quickly, and not at all for our homes. [ genuinely. what is fear and hunger about lowe. ]
Mm, yes. Cities are well-protected, and many monsters are less inclined to enter city limits, so it's usually only the wilds that one should worry about.
Time manipulation is not in my realm of understanding, and the god of time has long been forgotten by most of Teyvat... [ frowning, thinking ] Something to ask the angels, I think, so that we might be better prepared for what we return to.
